Warner Larson renovated this small and non-accessible neighborhood playground with the goal to create a playful space that mirrors the forested area surrounding the site using natural aesthetics and preservation of mature trees while offering challenging and diverse play. Warner Larson led the community process with three meetings towards preferred design that accounted for the tight budget constraints. 

The park’s proximity to the Indian Ridge conservation woodlands and wetlands involved an approval process which was led by our team. The new design increased the impervious areas from the existing conditions and therefore incorporated a rain garden for stormwater collection. The design was inspired by a tree house in the woods, immersed in nature and full of imagination. The focal aspect of the design, the oval lawn flanked by an asphalt loop, allows for a flexible space for community events. The walking loop and playground safety surfacing are decorated with animal prints and leaf patterns that reflect the native flora and fauna of the area, providing an educational and unique value to the space.
