Burchard Park is the renovation and expansion of the little league facility that includes five natural grass fields, a park shelter, parking, tennis courts and other passive park amenities.
Warner Larson was selected to plan and design the park with the goal to preserve and take advantage of the beautiful natural surroundings. This included working with various town officials and boards to build consensus and gain approval for the work in this environmentally sensitive area.
The adjacent College Pond is used for ice skating in the winter and the park is surrounded by conservation land full of wooded walking trails. In order to minimize enviromental impact the design included low impact development such as parking lots that were nestled into the forest which included rain gardens for stormwater instead of curbs. Warner Larson partnered with McEnzie Engineering Group on this.
Since 2006, Warner Larson has been working with the Town of Weston on numerous athletic facility projects. These projects have included new synthetic turf fields, tennis and basketball courts and several natural grass field renovations along with providing passive recreation to the community
