Warner Larson worked alongside Perkins Eastman on the new construction of Boston’s first and only public high school for the visual and performing arts, Boston Arts Academy. Situated on a prominent corner across the Fenway Park landmark, the new building and its exterior space, have been designed as a beacon for the neighborhood - to communicate to passersby its importance as a community learning space.

The Landscape project scope focused on redesigning circulation, parking and entrance plazas, which created a unique challenge to separate private and public spaces. In an effort to address the need for shaded seating areas around the campus, the public way is lined with shade trees and seating cubes to create social nodes. These spaces intended for gathering are differentiated from the walking paths using distinct paving patterns and colors. The precast concrete seat walls are custom designed with wood slats to abstractly mimic a musical piano. In keeping the creativity of the school programs, custom bike racks and sculpture anchor the corner of the street.
